Utilization

Utilization is the percentage of time that units in your fleet have been in use over its lifetime (known as lifetime utilization) or during a given period, as applicable.

You'll find this metric throughout ATMS GEN2.0, including:

  • when assigning a unit to an agreement
  • in many reports, such as Utilization, Full Inventory, and custom fleet reports

Are your units not meeting their Acceptable Performance goals? See "Best Practices: Fleet Utilization" for tips on monitoring and improving utilization.

How Utilization is calculated:

(Agreement Days ÷ In Service Days), multiplied by 100 to arrive at a percentage.

  • If your location uses a Shuttle service, Shuttle units and Shuttle agreements are factored into utilization.
  • If your location uses Internal Use agreements, these are not factored into utilization.
  • For the purposes of utilization, In Service Days does not count calendar days spent with the Flagged for Auto Removal status, days after Service End Date for units removed from fleet.
  • Depending on your manufacturer, calendar days a unit spends in certain fleet statuses (for example, on maintenance or recall) may be excluded from being counted as In Service Days, so they don't negatively impact utilization calculations.
  • For the purposes of utilization, Agreement Days does not count agreements that were later voided, or agreements with certain Classifications, as determined by your manufacturer.
  • Utilization can be higher than 100%.
  • If an agreement was opened at one location and closed at another, the utilization for that unit is attributed toward the location that opened the agreement.
